Zen and my earthly desires

He asked: “Will all my earthly desires disappear if I practiced here?”

Master answered: “No way! Your earthly desires will never perish. But they will start shining”

A phrase from a dialogue between Fujita Issho, Zen practitioner, and Hoshina Machiko, Tea master of Tokugawa shogun family lineage, exploring the inseparable relationship and confluence between Zen and Tea.

As much as I’m grateful to have been a part of this elegant book as a translator, I would love to see my earthly desires shine one day!
